Acai, acai, huasai or (in Portuguese) açaí (Euterpe oleracea ) is a native palm of northern South America , prized for its nutritious fruit . It is also known by the name of manaca palm. It grows in northern Brazil , Peru , French Guyana, Surinam, Guyana, Trinidad and Venezuela and the Middle Magdalena and the Pacific region in Colombia.
