Castor is one of the most important oilseed crops grown in semi-arid zones of India. The oil extracted from castor seeds finds a number of uses for domestic, medicinal and industrial purposes. Castor oil is widely used in number of veterinary purposes. Externally it is used as an emollient. It is a good soothing medium when dropped into the eyes of animals after removal of foreign bodies. The castor oil cake is valuable manure and a good source of fertilizer management.
