Mud containing CMC can form a layer of thin and hard, low permeable filter cake on the well-wall so as to reduce water loss. Adding CMC in the mud can make drill obtain low initial gel. The CMC mud can discharge mud air easily and discard debris into the pit quickly. Same as other additives, the drilling mud has a certain guarantee period,but it will become stable and has an extended guarantee period after use CMC.

Mud containing CMC is seldom affected by the bacterium and requires no high PH value or corrosion resistant.

Mud containing CMC has excellent stability and still can reduce the filtration loss even at above 150℃.
