Soybean Meal are produced by cracking, heating and flaking soybeans and reducing the oil content of the conditioned product by the use of hexane or homologous hydrocarbon solvents.
Soybean Meal is a high quality stockfeed, containing up to 48.5% protein (dry weight) and is regularly used in the poultry, pig, beef, pet food and aquaculture industries.
Soybean Meal is one of the most commonly used vegetable proteins sources. Its amino acid profile fits the amino acid requirements of many animals during all stages of their life. The amino acids found in Soybean Meal are highly digestible and complement other ingredients to make a balanced diet.
Soybean Meal must have no more than 0.5% oil content to prevent rancidity in storage, and be subject to careful heating (toasting) to denature antigrowth factors such as trypsin inhibitor and urease, common in legumes. The resulting toasted flakes are ground and standardised with regard to protein and moisture content according to the following specifications
