A V-shaped metal hoop works as spring providing structural support. According to different service environment and different flanges, spiral wound gaskets are always supplied in different materials and types. Graphite filling strip is good to be used in high temperature environment, PTFE filling strip is for acids and other corrosive mediums Non-asbestos’ use is increased when the health problems with asbestos became known. But it’s only recommended for low temperature less severe applications due to the rubber content. Ceramic is in extremely high temperature applications.
