Due to its strong light permeability and conductivity, indium is mainly used to produce ITO targets (for liquid crystal displays and flat panel screens), which is the main consumption area of indium ingots, accounting for 70% of the global indium consumption.

Indium is a silvery gray, very soft, fusible metal. The melting point is 156.61 ℃. The boiling point is 2060 ℃. The density is 7.30g/cm3. Liquid indium can soak glass and stick to the contacted surface, leaving black traces.

Indium has weak radioactivity. Natural indium has two main isotopes, In-113 is a stable nuclide, and In-115 is a stable nuclide β- Decay. Therefore, avoid direct contact as much as possible in use.
