James Finley Scott, a student at the University of California in the United States, was the first person to convert an ordinary bicycle into a mountain bike. After that, cross-country sports gradually became popular in Europe and America, and formed competitions. The International Cycling Union recognized this sport in 1990 and held the World Cup for the first time in 1991.
