Carlo Gavazzi GAP1605 Dupline Hand-Held Code Programmer

Product description

Carlo Gavazzi GAP1605 – Dupline Hand-Held Code Programmer

The Carlo Gavazzi GAP1605 is a portable, hand-held programming unit specifically designed for the Dupline® two-wire fieldbus system. As an essential addressing and configuration tool, the GAP1605 enables technicians to easily assign channel codes, read existing configurations, diagnose network issues, and test Dupline modules without disconnecting the system. Whether used in industrial automation, building management, or remote distributed control systems, this compact programmer delivers the reliability and ease of use that professionals demand.

Key Features

Portable & Battery-Powered – The GAP1605 is powered by a standard 9V battery, offering approximately one year of typical battery life. Once the battery is installed, the unit is ready for immediate use. Its compact dimensions of 120mm (W) x 65mm (H) x 22mm (D) make it easy to carry to any job site.

On/Off-Line Coding Capability – The GAP1605 supports both on-line and off-line coding. For off-line programming, neither the Dupline bus nor external power is required to supply the module – simply connect the module directly to the programmer. This feature significantly enhances flexibility and convenience during system commissioning and maintenance.

Individual & Group Coding – The programmer allows for group coding of an entire module or individual coding of every input/output. Inputs/outputs can be coded as 2, 4, or 8 successive channels, or individually for each I/O. Unused inputs/outputs can be defined as non-coded.

Intuitive 5-Key Tactile Keyboard – Operation is straightforward with five tactile keys:

  • Two keys for reading and programming
  • Two keys for changing Groups and Channels
  • One key for selecting the desired Input/Output

4 x 8 LED Display – The current coding is clearly displayed by a 4 x 8 LED matrix:

  • Top row – Displays the selected input or output
  • Two middle rows – Display the current channel group
  • Bottom row – Displays the current channel code

Touch-Safe Design – The programmer features a touch-safe design that prevents accidental contact with moving parts, enhancing safety during operation.

Durable Construction – Housed in a rugged ABS enclosure, the GAP1605 is built to withstand demanding industrial environments with mechanical resistance of 15G (11ms) shock and 2G (6 to 55Hz) vibration.

IP40 Protection Rating – The IP40 rating ensures protection against solid objects larger than 1mm, making it suitable for use in control cabinets and industrial settings.

RoHS Compliant & SVHC-Free – The GAP1605 is RoHS compliant and contains no Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).

Operating Modes & Functionality

Reading Channel Codes – Press the « Read / On » key to turn on the GAP1605 and read the channel codes of the connected module. The display will show the channel code configuration: if 2, 4, or 8 I/O LEDs are illuminated, consecutive channel codes are allocated (e.g., input 1 coded to P1, input 2 to P2, etc.). If only one I/O LED is on, the I/Os are coded individually.

Programming Channel Codes – After configuring the desired I/O coding using the Group and Channel keys, press the « Prog » key to download the codes to the Dupline module. A verification process follows; if verification fails, all activated LEDs will flash twice and the unit will switch off.

Individual Channel Editing – The GAP1605 features an additional mode for single-channel editing. Pressing « In/Out » for more than 2 seconds changes the operating mode to single-point programming, allowing individual channel coding for each of the eight possible inputs/outputs.

Auto Power-Off – If the GAP1605 is not connected to a Dupline system, it will automatically turn off within two seconds, conserving battery life.
