A hurricane light must have a saddle. The saddle is an iron cylinder frame, with an oil pan and screw cover at the bottom, fully enclosed, and no oil leakage. There are two iron covers at the upper end, with gaps in each layer for easy air release. In the middle is a glass cover. There is also a wire handle. This type of lamp rarely stays at the corner of the stove, mostly wandering outdoors. It forms a family of lamps with the cover lamp at home, one main exterior and the other main interior. The hurricane lamp is the great husband among the lamps.

The Western American horseback was placed on the side of the saddle and was only widely used when it was introduced to China in the late Qing and Republic of China. Hurricane lights were a lighting tool developed in China in the last century. It uses kerosene as lamp oil, paired with a wick, and covered with a glass cover to prevent wind from blowing out the lamp. It can be hung on horses during nighttime travel and was most widely used in the 1970s.
