First, Pre-use Preparation for the Towable Spider Lift

Many beginners mistakenly think that they can use the towable spider lift right after towing it to the site, but this is not the case. The pre-use preparation work is the key to safe operation, and none of the steps can be skipped. Especially for high-altitude operations, if details are not properly handled, potential safety hazards are likely to arise.

1.Ensure Ground Stability to Keep the Machine Steady

The towable spider lift relies on four retractable outriggers to support the body, so a stable ground surface is crucial. Priority should be given to selecting solid, flat ground. Avoid potholes, soft muddy roads, and gravel piles. Do not operate on slopes unless the equipment is clearly marked as suitable for use on gentle slopes. If the ground is relatively soft, you can lay wooden planks or steel plates in advance to increase the force-bearing area, preventing the outriggers from sinking and the body from tilting. Clear obstacles around the operation area and reserve sufficient operating space.

2.Inspect the Equipment to Avoid Malfunctions

Equipment inspection does not need to be complicated; focus on checking the following key points:

Towing System: Check if the towing hook and towing rope are firm without loosening or damage, ensuring the equipment can be safely towed to the operation site.

Outriggers: Test whether the four outriggers can extend, retract, and lock smoothly, and check the hydraulic pipelines for leaks.

Power System: For electric models, check if the battery power is sufficient; for fuel-powered models, verify the fuel and engine oil levels are normal.

Working Platform: Inspect if the platform guardrails are sturdy, the control handles are responsive, and the emergency stop button functions properly.

3.Take Protective Measures, Safety First

Even beginners must receive basic training to understand the functions of each button and handle. During operation, the operator must fasten the safety belt and refrain from wearing slippers, high heels, etc. Do not carry excessive debris on the platform. When operating the machine, assign a ground supervisor to monitor the situation at all times. In case of an emergency, the supervisor can press the stop button immediately to avoid danger.

Second, Operation Steps of the Towable Spider Lift

Use a towing vehicle such as a pickup truck or trailer, connect it to the equipment’s built-in towing hook, and tow the towable spider lift to the designated operation site. Maintain a moderate speed during towing; avoid sudden braking or sharp turns to prevent the equipment from shaking.

After reaching the site, secure the towing vehicle, disconnect the towing hook, and ensure the lift body is stable.

Extend the outriggers to distribute the load evenly and let them touch the ground slowly. Adjust the height of each outrigger individually according to the ground conditions until the body is completely level. Lock the outriggers after adjustment to prevent them from retracting and the body from tilting during operation.

Once the body is stable, the operator can enter the platform, fasten the safety belt, and adjust the platform height and position after confirming everything is in order. When working, stand in the middle of the platform and refrain from any dangerous actions.

Do not rush to tow the lift away immediately after operation. Proper post-use cleaning and maintenance can extend the equipment’s service life and prevent malfunctions in future use.
